cystic fibrosis

Last month, we worked with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to raise money through an advanced, private screening of the movie “Five Feet Apart” at Alamo Drafthouse. We so appreciate the response, as we managed to raise $1,150 for the Foundation.

This means the world to us. Austintatious Founders, Tracey and Norma, have a niece, Vivian Rose Jistel, that was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis when she was just 3 weeks old. At the time of her diagnosis, they had heard of Cystic Fibrosis but never really knew what it was. From that point onward, they started educating ourselves, and anyone else they’ve come into contact with since.

It just seems incredulous that this little angel has to suffer from this debilitating condition that currently has no cure, requires hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of medical treatment to keep her going, along with countless hours of breathing treatments & therapy, and a dedicated team of specialized medical professionals to ensure that she is receiving quality care. Vivian was born just 3 years ago, and at that time, the average life span for someone with CF was only 37 years old. Today the average life span is 47 years old! In just 3 years, it has increased by 10 years!

It is organizations like the CF Foundation that have actually ADDED TOMORROWS for little Vivian and all of the other CF warriors! It is events such as these that help raise public awareness and funds that go towards groundbreaking research to not only increase the quality and life span for Cystic Fibrosis patients; ultimately, it goes towards finding a cure.

This is a cause that we at Austintatious Blinds and Shutters have chosen to support and plan to continue to share opportunities to get involved. Our next event is the Great Strides Walk on May 18th at Mueller Lake Park. Visit this link to register as a walker or be a “virtual walker” if you can’t make it to the event and just want to help raise funds.

Thank you so much for joining us to help raise awareness and funds for the CF Foundation. Every dollar actually goes toward adding tomorrows and finding a cure for all Cystic Fibrosis warriors out there! The Austintatious team will be walking for “Team Rose Petals” and we hope to see you out there!
